Preserve replayable audio
Record the date, speaker, filename and permission for each session. Mark uncertain speakers when several people talk at once.
Flag uncertain words
Replay names, places, nicknames and dialect phrases with their timestamps. Do not replace an unclear word just because another word sounds plausible.
Separate quotations from narration
Keep distinctive original expressions as attributed quotes; write connective passages in clear prose without implying they were spoken verbatim.
Review each language edition
Changing characters does not resolve Cantonese vocabulary or family nicknames. Check names and chapters separately in every edition.
Confirm with the family
First establish who spoke and who they meant. Then review whether the finished story reflects their meaning.
